The Mad Rush

You would think they were starved.
Days without food.
Like people in a third world country.
Like people who have been hiking the Appalachian Trail with only a granola bar.
{None of these apply}
Instead, they are my co-workers.
On Thursdays, a generous customer of ours brings in doughnuts. I have witnessed people following him from the front door to the break room to snatch their doughnut of choice as soon as they are set on the counter. You will often hear, "Grab me the chocolate one" from someone who is in the middle of a phone call and can't sprint down there on their own.
Once a month we have financial reports due and because of the strenuous process the company provides lunch for us. A very nice act, indeed. As if they had a food radar in their office, they all appear (imagine prairie dogs perched from their holes) and dash to the break room once again. At this point, I'm surprised no one has suffered injuries.
Occasionally, there is left-overs from a training or meeting in the training room downstairs. Today was one of those days. I could hardly make it up the stairs because I was being bombarded by the group of people making sure they got their share of what was left to be devoured.
It's quite entertaining to watch.

I used to put out doughnuts and bagels at the place I worked in Utah. The same thing there, people act like they haven't eaten in months.
